According to Travel Off Path, a Canadian magazine, with the promulgation of the Guidance on reopening tourism from 15th March 2022, Vietnam is recently the easiest country to enter in the region of Southeast Asia by its minimal entry requirements toward visitors.

Accordingly, in order to enter Vietnam, visitors are not required to present either a COVID-19 vaccine certificate, or certificate showing proof of recovery, nor undergo any quarantine. Therefore, whether visitors are fully vaccinated or not, as long as they strictly follow the guidelines for entry, they can freely explore the country.

In detail, all visitors need to do is:

Have a negative SARS-CoV-2 test result using RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method within 72 hours before entry into Vietnam
Or have a negative rapid test result within 24 hours before departure certified by the competent authority of the country where the test is performed.
Have medical or travel insurance that covers COVID-19 treatment with a minimum liability of USD10,000.
And children aged 2 and under are not required to be tested for SARS-CoV-2.

Before and during the trip, a completed online health declaration form is required along with the installation of the “PC-COVID” app.

Regarding visa requirements, Vietnam now reopened the E-visa website - where citizens from 80 countries can apply for a 30-day tourist visa for a single entry. Also, Vietnam restored the policies on entry visas for foreigners as before the pandemic outbreak. Thereby, from 15th March 2022 to 14th March 2025, Vietnam applies visa exemption for citizens of 13 countries (Germany, French, Italy, Spain, UK and Northern Ireland, Russian, Japan, Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus) with a maximum length of stay of 15 days.

Travel Off Path also shown some comparisons to other Southeast Asia countries to prove that Vietnam is the easiest country to enter in the region of Southeast Asia.  Hence, other nations in the region have different entry requirements – which apply to vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors; such as Cambodia and Philippines, Governments of these 2 countries all require visitors who are not fully vaccinated to undergo quarantine and COVID-19 test after arrival into the countries. Visitors to Thailand will need to apply for a Thailand Pass and book a one-night stay at a ‘test and go’ hotel and undergo Covid-19 testing upon arrival into the country.
